Mark 1:25 (KJV) Authority in Him

Mark 1:25 (KJV):

“And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.”

“And Jesus rebuked him”

  • Jesus speaks with authority, not like the scribes (Mark 1:22).
  • To rebuke is to silence and correct with power.
  • His word carries weight over both the natural and spiritual realms.

📖 Psalm 106:9“He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.”
📖 Luke 4:36“And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

👉 Meaning: Jesus has supreme authority over demonic forces.

“Hold thy peace”

  • Literally: “Be silent.”
  • Evil spirits recognized Jesus, but He silenced them (see Mark 1:24) because He would not allow demons to define His identity.
  • Jesus reveals Himself on His terms, not through the testimony of darkness.

📖 James 2:19“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

👉 Meaning: Truth from unclean lips is not acceptable to God. Jesus silences false voices.

“And come out of him”

  • A direct command with no rituals, formulas, or negotiations.
  • The unclean spirit must obey immediately because the Word of Jesus is final.
  • This shows His compassion — not only authority over demons, but deliverance for the oppressed.

📖 John 8:36“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

👉 Meaning: Where Jesus speaks, freedom follows.

🙏 Reflective Prayer from Mark 1:25

Abba Father, in the name of Jesus,
I thank You for the authority of Jesus Christ, who rebukes darkness and drives out every unclean thing. Lord Jesus, You are the One who silences every false voice and brings peace to the troubled. I praise You, for even the demons obey Your Word.

Silence every lie that rises against Your truth in my life. Let no voice of fear, condemnation, or deception have power over me. Command Your peace into my mind and heart.

And just as You said, “Come out of him,” I ask You to deliver me from every hidden bondage and set me free from all that oppresses me. For whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

Let Your Word of power rule in me, and let my life declare Your victory.

In Jesus Almighty name, Amen.
