📖 Mark 1:38 (KJV):
“And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach
there also: for therefore came I forth.”
✨ Unpacking the Verse
“Let us go into the next towns”
- Jesus is always moving forward —
His mission was not limited to one place.
- The gospel is for all people, not
just for Capernaum where He was ministering.
📖 Isaiah 49:6 – “And he said,
It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of
Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a
light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the
earth.”
👉 Meaning: The reach of Christ’s
mission is wide — His heart is for every town, every nation.
“That I may preach there also”
- Jesus identifies His central
task: to preach (Greek: kērussō, to proclaim, announce).
- Miracles confirmed His authority,
but the message of the kingdom was His priority.
📖 Romans 10:14 – “How then
shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they
believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a
preacher?”
👉 Meaning: Preaching the Word brings
faith and salvation — it is how the kingdom spreads.
“For therefore came I forth”
- Jesus reveals His purpose: He
came not only to heal and deliver but to proclaim the good news.
- His mission was intentional, not
accidental.
📖 Luke 4:43 – “And he said
unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore
am I sent.”
👉 Meaning: Jesus came forth with a
divine commission — to bring the message of God’s kingdom to all.
🙏 Reflective Prayer
from Mark 1:38
Abba Father, in the name of Jesus,
I thank You for the purpose of Christ revealed in His words: “For therefore
came I forth.” Lord Jesus, I praise You because You did not stay in one
place, but moved from town to town, bringing the good news of salvation to all
people.
Give me a heart that sees beyond my own comfort, beyond my own circle, to
the world that needs to hear of You. As You were sent to preach the kingdom,
send me also to speak of Your love, whether to one person or to many.
May I never forget that Your Word is life, Your gospel is power, and Your
mission is global. Let me live as Your messenger, carrying the light of Christ
wherever I go.
In Jesus Almighty name, Amen.
